ODI Selector F. A. Q

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the ODI Selector?
A: ODI Selector is a game in which you are the Chief Selector of your very own ODI Cricket team. Points are awarded based upon the performance of the players you have selected, in real life matches. You put your skills to the test against other dream teams or 'ODI Selectors' and in the process get a chance to win fabulous prizes.

Q: What is the cost of playing ODI Selector?
A: There is no cost. The game is completely free to play.

Q: How many teams can I create and submit?
A: You may submit only one team per competition for each registered account.

Q: When do I have to register by?
A: Registration never closes. You may sign up and begin playing at any time and stage of a competition. However, registration might not be available when site maintenance and updates are taking place.

Q: What is the minimum age requirement for playing ODI Selector?
A: There is no age restriction for playing ODI Selector. However, if you are below the age of eighteen, we will require proof of guardian in order for you to claim your prize.

Q: Can I edit/update my user details?
A: Yes. Simply log in and select the Update option to modify your user details such as name, team name, password and more.

Q: Can I replace or remove my profile picture once I have added it?
A: Certainly, click on the 'Update Your Picture' button upon login, which will take you to a page where you can remove your current picture or add a new one.

Q: Am I required to play every day?
A: That is not necessary. You can access your team as often as you like. However, it is recommended that you do check/edit your team frequently and check the points tally of your team in order to stay competitive.

Q: What if I have lost or forgotten my password?
A: In case you have forgotten your password, ODI selector will reset your password on your request, and email a temporary password to your valid email address. You may then login to your page and update your password from the 'Update Your Profile' link.

Q: I'm registered, but I am having problems logging in.
A: Ensure that you are using the correct user id and password. Something that may be preventing you from logging in is if you have Cookies in your browser window turned off. To check this in Internet Explorer, you will need to go to Tools, then Internet Options. Click on the Privacy tab, then Advanced, and ensure that Cookies is set to "Accept".

Q: When are the statistics and all standings updated?
A: Player real life statistics are updated once before the tournament. However, the points accumulated by a player and the overall standings are updated at the conclusion of each match. Please note that due to complexities in the scoring process and the amount of data involved, delays may sometimes occur which are beyond our control.

Q: How do I score points and how does the point system work?
A: Please click on Game Rules listed under the How to Play label in the Navigation Bar located on the left for further details.

Q: Why don't I receive any points for some of my players?
A: Points will be calculated for players who play in a real life match on a particular day. Player(s) you may have included in your roster might end up not being selected by their respective country teams in which case, they receive a total of 0 for that game.

Q: Why are there restrictions and limits on player selection for each position?
A: To make the competition challenging and more reflective of the real life game, position limits have been set up to reflect a true team in selecting the appropriate amount of players in their rightful positions. There is also a limit of 6 players from each participating nation, in order to create a truly international and varied team.

Q: How many players do I have to start with in each game initially, and do I need to have that exact number?
A: You MUST select 11 players in order for us to calculate points for your team. No points will be allocated to any of your players until your roster does not consist of 11 players.

Q: What if I can't find a player from the list of available players?
A: We have taken great care to ensure that every team's entire player list is featured in the competition.  In the case where you cannot find a particular player, please contact us and let us know and we will be more than happy to add him.
