How to Play

ODI selector will put your team selection skills to the test. The aim of the game is to assemble and manage a team of international cricketers and score as many points based on the actual performance of the players.

The challenge for you is to come up with the most effective combination of cricketers while observing the rules & conditions set forth by ODI Selector. Please read the details below and familiarize yourself with these instructions. Also refer to our Frequently Asked Questions section, where some of the popular queries about the game, have been answered. You can also always contact us if you have any further questions.

Game Rules

To play our free ODI Selector game, simply fill in our Registration Form. You must supply a valid email address as you will be sent a link to activate your account, which will allow you to login and begin selecting your fantasy team.

If you are registering with a web email address, such as hotmail, gmail or a yahoo address, please ensure that your email account has not been disabled. You will not be able to complete your registration without providing a valid email address that you have access to.

If you have already registered, please proceed to the login page and enter your User ID and password to access the Members Area. In case you have forgotten your password, ODI Selector will reset your password on your request, and email a temporary password to your valid email address. You may then login to your Personal Page in the Members Area and update your password from the ‘Update Your Profile’ link.

In the Members Area, you will be able to see a listing of your leagues and teams in the 'My Leagues' section. On registration, your team will be entered into the default 'ODI Selector League', the site's only public league.

You may join a private league by an invitation from your friends or create one of your own by contacting the ODI Support Team for access privileges.

You may participate in multiple leagues at the same time; however, you will be required to update the roster for all your teams, individually.

In the Members Area, click on the team you would like to edit from the 'My Leagues' section.

Formation: ODI Selectors will be required to structure their team according to one of the following four combinations:

  • Five batsmen, two all-rounders, one wicket-keeper and three bowlers

  • Five batsmen, one all-rounder, one wicket-keeper and four bowlers

  • Four batsmen, two all-rounders, one wicket-keeper and four bowlers

  • Four batsmen, one all-rounder, one wicket-keeper and five bowlers


  • Build Roster: ODI Selectors may select and add a player to their roster as long as the selection is within the following criteria:

  • Available credit limit does not exceed 120

  • Player does not already exist in your active playing XI

  • Player limit of 6 from any one country's team has not been exceeded


  • Set Captain: ODI Selectors are required to designate a captain for their team. The points accumulated or deducted by a captain's performance will be doubled for and from the overall team points, thereby greatly increasing your chances of winning. However, teams without designated captains will still be awarded points for that particlular match day.

    Indicators: Keep an eye on the following indicators to ensure that you have successfully edited your roster:
    Complete Roster: Yes -    Captain Not Selected: No -

    Users will be allowed to make an unlimited number of changes to their team at any time before or during the tournament. However, the team lineup cannot be edited while matches are in progress. Additions/Removals to your roster must be completed at least ONE HOUR BEFORE the earliest scheduled start of play on any given match day in order for your team(s)to score points for that particular day. Please also note that your team(s) will only be awarded points for a complete roster. Any team having less than 11 players in their roster will not be awarded points for that particular match day.

    Strike Rate of 80.00+ 20 Points
    Strike Rate of 70 - 79.99 12 Points
    Note: Strike Rate points are awarded for innings of 20 runs or more
    Batsman scores half century 20 Points
    Batsman scores century 40 Points
    Bowling
    Wickets (Per wicket) 20 Points
    3.5 or less r.p.o. 20 Points
    3.51 - 4.5 r.p.o. 10 Points
    6.0 or more r.p.o. (-20 Points)
    Note: Economy Rate points are awarded/deducted for 2 overs or more
    Bowler takes 3/4 wickets in an inning 20 Points
    Bowler takes 5 or more wickets in an inning 40 Points
    Fielding
    Catch 10 Points
    Runout 10 Points
    Stumping (W'keeper only) 10 Points

    * Points accumulated by your team's captain will be doubled
